Player Spotlight

Every week, each of our head coaches will choose a player and cheerleader that they believe represents the values that BlueDevil Youth Football and Cheerleading strives for. The Player Spotlight is our way of showcasing those individuals.

Gerardo Erazo is the 5th-grade team’s right guard and tight end. He likes playing guard because it gives him a chance to work on his blocking skill and he likes to play tight end because he likes scoring touchdowns so his team can win. Even though his favorite NFL player is Von Miller of the Denver Broncos, his favorite NFL team is the New England Patriots. His favorite football memory is when he scored his first touchdown. When he wants to go out and eat he likes Wholly Stromboli in Fort Lupton. At school, he likes to learn math and read The One and Only Ivan. His favorite video game is Fortnite and he likes to watch Avengers: Infinity War. His favorite TV show is Teen Titans and he likes to spend time with his friends and just hang out.

 

Logan Seely is a tight end for the 3rd-grade team this year. He loves to block when he plays that position. His favorite NFL team is the Denver Broncos and his favorite player is retired quarterback, Peyton Manning. At school, he really enjoys studying math and reading his favorite book series, I Survived. When he is at home, he likes to watch Teen Titans on TV or the movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He likes to eat at McDonald’s and playing the video game, Roblox. He loves playing football because he has a lot of fun doing it.

 

Colton Schara is a 6th-grade lineman who loves trying to sack the opposing quarterback. His favorite NFL football player is Von Miller of his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. When he’s away from the football field, he likes to play with his sister and his dad and he also loves to hunt deer, elk, dove, and pheasant. He likes to study art in school and read his favorite book, The Hatchet. He likes to play Minecraft and watch The Pirates of the Caribbean.

 

Dylan Alvarado, or Dill Pickle as he’s known by his closest friends and family, is the 6th-grade defensive end who loves sacking the quarterback. His favorite football memory was when his team went undefeated a few years ago. Away from the field, Dylan likes to read Harry Potter books, study math and watch Naruto on TV. His favorite NFL player is Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals.

Zoe Solis is a cheerleader for this 6th-grade team this year. Her favorite football player is Abraham Lujan from the 6th-grade football team for the Blue Devils. Her favorite memory is when she cheered at her first football game. When she’s not cheering for football, you can find her cheering on her competitive cheer squad. At school, Zoe likes to read her favorite book, Frozen. She enjoys playing Fortnite and watching My Little Pony on TV. If she could choose where to eat dinner every night, she would probably pick her favorite restaurant, Texas Roadhouse.

 

Darius “D Money” Burrow is this year’s 3rd-grade safety. He likes playing that position because he likes to tackle hard. His favorite football memory so far was when he sacked the opposing team’s quarterback. Even when he is away from the field, he likes to play football with his friends. On Sundays, Darius likes to watch Ezekiel Elliot of the Dallas Cowboys. At school, he likes to learn about science and read The Knight at Dawn: Magic Treehouse. At home when he’s relaxing, he likes to watch Jurassic World II or Andy Mack on TV. His favorite video game is Madden 19 and he loves to dance and sing.

 

Tyler “Ty” Fox is a tight end and defensive end for the 4th-grade tackle team this year. His favorite football player in the NFL is Von Miller and his favorite NFL team is the Denver Broncos. When he isn’t playing football, Tyler likes to ride bikes with his friends, go fishing or spending time with his family. At school, he likes to learn math and science. His favorite book is Pokemon and he loves to eat at Georgia Boys BBQ. He likes to play Minecraft and watch any of the Jurassic Park movies.

 

Jacob Sanders is a wide receiver and cornerback for the 5th-grade team. He likes to learn about science in school and reading any Star Wars book. In fact, his favorite movie is Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and his favorite video game is Star Wars Battlefront. When he’s not running down the gridiron, he likes to play basketball and soccer and riding his bike. He also likes to play Madden 18. His favorite NFL football player is Emmanuel Sanders of the Denver Broncos and he even got to go to the parade in Denver when the Broncos won the Super Bowl in 2015.

 

Aiden “Buddy” LaTrielle is a defensive player for the 6th-grade tackle team. He likes to play on defense because he enjoys a challenge. At school, Aiden really likes art class and reading Naruto Episode 42. He loves anything anime and especially loves the movie, Naruto: The Brothers Battle. He likes to play Fortnite on his Xbox and eating at the Happy Sumo restaurant. His favorite NFL team is the Miami Dolphins and the Denver Broncos, and his favorite player is John Elway. His favorite football memory was when he tackled someone for the first time. He is such a kind-hearted person who loves his family.

 

 

Thiago Guerrero is a player on the Blue Flag football team this year. He plays running back because he can run fast. His favorite football memory was when he scored his first touchdown. He loves to watch Tom Brady play for the New England Patriots, which is his favorite NFL player and team. Away from the football field, he loves to watch his favorite movie, Ready Player One, or his favorite TV show, Teen Titans Go. He also loves to hang out with his brother, Royce. At school, Thiago likes to read in class, especially his favorite book, Pup and Pig. He also loves to collect Nerf guns!

 

Aiden Smith, who plays on the White Flag football team, really enjoys pulling flags off belts during his football games. His favorite NFL player is Peyton Manning and his favorite football team is the Denver Broncos. At school, Aiden enjoys reading his favorite book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. At home, Aiden likes to play Minecraft or watch The Lego Movie. His favorite hobbies include playing with Legos and his trains. His favorite holiday is Christmas and he really loves going to The North Pole.

 

Laila Campbell, or LMC as she’s lovingly known by, is a 4th-grade cheerleader who loves to makes bracelets for her friends and family, as well as herself. At home, she likes to watch TV, especially Spongebob Squarepants or the movie, Hotel Transylvania 3. She loves to study math at school and reading Super Narwhal and Jelly Jolt. She also likes to play video games with her favorite being Hydro Thunder.

 

 

Lucian “Bear” Perez is a middle linebacker and plays special teams for the 3rd-grade team. He loves to tackle and be on the field and his favorite memory while playing football is when he tackled his dad. At school, Lucian likes to go to PE in school and read his favorite book, I am a Frog. When he is at home he likes to watch Spongebob Squarepants on TV and the movie It. His favorite video game is Fortnite and he loves to play it any chance he gets. His favorite football team is the Oakland Raiders and he does Powwow dances.

 

Joel Valadez is a 5th-grade running back this year. His favorite football player is Von Miller who plays for his favorite NFL team, the Denver Broncos. His favorite football memory is when Von Miller signed his football jersey at a Broncos game. When he’s away from the field, he likes to spend time with his brother or play his favorite video game, Fortnite. His favorite movie is Because of Winn-Dixie and he likes to watch The Odd Squad on TV. When it’s time to eat, he loves to go to Chili’s.

 

Justin Brackeen is a 6th-grade receiver who loves to play his dogs at home. His favorite subject in school is Western Civilization and he likes to read Bud Not Buddy. At home, when he wants to relax, he likes to watch Deadpool and Chicago Med on TV. His favorite football player is Doug Baldwin who plays for his favorite NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks. Something interesting to know about Justin is that he likes to dye his hair cool and different colors.

 

Maathyus Tijerina is a quarterback on the Blue Flag team this year. One of his best football memories was when he pulled 5 flags in one game. When he isn’t playing flag football, Maathyus enjoys playing outside and learning new things. He really loves to learn math and read about animals. When he wants to relax, he likes to watch Henry Danger on TV, the movie It or play Fortnite. His favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys.

 

Noah Lujan is a great player on the White Flag team. He loves the Denver Broncos and watching TV. His favorite thing to watch on TV is cartoons and he likes to play Fortnite. When it’s dinner time, he likes going to Buffalo Wild Wings. His coach thinks he is a great leader and loves watching him help out his younger teammates.

 

Makaylee “KK” Haney is a cheerleader for the 5th grade team. She loves to skate and is good at it. Her favorite football player is her brother and she also enjoys watching the Dallas Cowboys. When she isn’t watching or cheering at football games, she likes to hangout with her friends. In school, she likes to study math. Like her brother, her favorite movie is The Longest Yard.

 

 

Jayson “Jay” Batalla is a 3rd-grade running back who likes to work together with his team to make his position valuable. Although he lives here in Colorado, his favorite football team is the Raiders and his favorite NFL player is Amari Cooper, who is a wide receiver for the Raiders. When he’s away from the field, Jay likes to eat out at Buffalo Wild Wings, play Fortnite, and watch The Loud House cartoon. At school, his favorite subject to study is math while his favorite book to read is The Bad Guys. Something interesting about Jay? He plays the guitar and hopes to one day be a musician.

 

Jacob Whetstone, the QB for the 4th-grade team, who loves the game of football and is a leader on and off the field. When he wants to relax, he enjoys playing video games, especially Fortnite, and play at the park with his friends. If he is looking to just hang out at home, he likes watching Jurassic World or Garfield on TV. His favorite player, Keenan Allen, plays for his favorite team, the Los Angeles Chargers. He loves to read and write and his favorite book is Dogman. Jacob also has a funny sense of humor and a fun spirit. He is always having fun with his teammates.

 

Colton Haney, or Bubba as he is affectionately known by, is a tight end for the 5th-grade team this year. A football player through and through, Colton likes to watch it on TV, play the game with friends off the field and even likes to watch a movie called The Longest Yard. His favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys and he loves to watch Dak Prescott. Like many kids his age, Colton likes to play Fortnite when he plays video games. His favorite football memory is when he went to play football at All-Stars. When he needs to relax, you can find him hanging out with his family at the Hibachi restaurant or reading the Bible to help him stay calm in all things.

 

John “Trey” McAninch is this year’s 6th-grade guard. At school, John likes to study art and read Scooby-Doo and the Masked Magician. When he needs to relax, he likes to play Fortnite or take care of his 5 pets. John isn’t a Colorado native and even though he is from Kansas, his favorite NFL player is Tom Brady who plays for his favorite team, the New England Patriots. His favorite football memory didn’t happen when he was suited up and on the field. The day he went to his first Oklahoma Sooners game is one memory he will always remember.

 

 

Colin “Bug” LaTrielle is a wide receiver for the 3rd-grade team who loves playing his position because he can catch the ball. As an avid reader, he enjoys books at school and at home with his favorite one being Dogman. When he is relaxing with his family at home, he enjoys watching Stranger Things on Netflix, the Captain Underpants movie or playing board games. When it comes to football on Sundays, he loves the Seattle Seahawks and especially Russell Wilson. His favorite football memory was when he made his first interception. Like most kids his age, he enjoys playing Fortnite and he also likes to eat at Red Robin. Something you may not know about Colin? He happens to be a great big brother!

 

Izaiah Rivera, or Zai as he’s also known by, is an offensive and defensive lineman for the 4th-grade team. When we asked him why he likes those positions, he told us it was because he likes to hit and tackle and as a lineman, he gets to do that a lot. On Sundays, you can find him cheering for his favorite NFL team, the Denver Broncos, and his favorite player, Von Miller. When he’s not thinking about football, he is studying math at school or reading The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. His favorite video game is Assassin’s Creed and he loves to watch Avengers: Infinity War. If he’s out with his family, he likes to eat at Chipotle or play outside.

Eduardo Casas is a running back for this year’s 5th-grade team. Even though he lives in Colorado, his favorite football player is Tom Brady who plays for his favorite team, the New England Patriots. When he’s away from the field, he likes to play Legos or watch the movie The Box Trolls as well as Spongebob Squarepants. His favorite video game is Fortnite and he loves to eat at McDonald’s. His favorite football memory is when he caught the ball one-handed!

 

Guillaume “G” Nkiadiambu is a tight end and wide receiver for the 6th-grade team this year. As the tallest kid on his team, he likes these positions because he gets to catch the ball and work really hard. His favorite football memory so far has been when he made his first big tackle. A lover of any sport, G likes to play basketball when he’s not on the gridiron and he also likes to play the Madden 19 video game. At school, you can find him studying math, his favorite subject, or reading a book called The Division. In his free time, he likes watching The Longest Yard, The Walking Dead or eating at Five Guys.

 

 

Ayva Gamboa is on the 3rd-grade cheer team. Her favorite cheer to do is the Bubble Gum cheer. In school, Ayva loves to write and read her favorite book, Tinker Bell. Her favorite TV show is Mickey Mouse and her favorite movie is Paddington 2. Away from the cheer team she enjoys eating with her family at Red Robin and she spends her free time doing puzzles and singing. When she grows up, Ayva wants to be a veterinarian.

 

Cason Leis plays running back this year for the White Flag Team and his favorite memory since he started playing football is having his Papa and daddy coach him. His favorite football player is his brother Gavin while his favorite football team is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When he has free time, he likes to play with his friends or watch his favorite TV show, Garfield. At school, his favorite class is art and he loves to read Froggy Plays Soccer.

 

Gavrin “Lil Gav” Flores is a flag football running back on the Blue Flag Team this year. He loves this position because he can score touchdowns and runs fast. In fact, his favorite memory is when he scored his first touchdown. His favorite football player is Derek Carr and his favorite football team is the Oakland Raiders. He likes playing Fortnite and loves to box when he’s away from the football field. His favorite thing to do at school is play at recess and read the book Soldiers.

 

Oziel Rodriguez, or Ozzie as he’s also known by, is a 3rd-grade running back who is also a great soccer player and wrestler. He even took 1st place at Metro Wrestling’s State Tournament! His favorite football team is the Denver Broncos and like most of the fans, he loves Von Miller. He loves being a running back because he can get the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. When he’s off the field and mat, he loves just hanging out with his family and eating at Buffalo Wild Wings. When he wants to relax, you can find him watching The Incredibles movie or Spongebob Squarepants on TV. His favorite football memory was when he almost scored a touchdown during a scrimmage when his teammate passed him the ball.

 

Dylen “DJ” Hofferber is a quarterback and halfback for the 4th-grade team this year. He enjoys playing these positions because he is lightning fast and has a pretty good arm. At school, he really likes to read The Hatchet, his favorite subject is PE and he loves to run. That makes sense considering his favorite football player is Philip Lindsay of the Denver Broncos. At dinner time, if he had his choice of restaurants, he would choose Renegade Burrito in Westminster. He loves to play Fortnite or watch Last Chance U on Netflix. When anyone asks him what his favorite football memory is he would tell them it was last year when he scored at least 6 touchdowns. As a pretty humble player, he also thinks he’s a beast at football.

 

Samuel “Jack” Pendleton is a wide receiver and linebacker for the 5th-grade team. He loves playing linebacker because he feels like it is an important part of any defense. His favorite football memory is when he caused a fumble. When you ask him what his favorite football team is he will tell you that it’s the Denver Broncos and his favorite player? Emmanuel Sanders. In his free time, he likes to play video games like Fortnite and Madden 18 and he also likes to read about football with the book Football Hero. His favorite movie to watch when he’s relaxing at home is Cool Runnings and he loves the TV show Crashletes.

 

 

Royce Guerrero, the quarterback for the 6th-grade tackle team enjoys his position because he is a leader on and off the field. Like many of his teammates, his favorite thing to do away from the gridiron is play video games and his number one choice? Fortnite! Like any great athlete, he enjoys watching ESPN and especially his favorite football player, Philip Lindsay. At school, he really likes studying history and reading Hugo Cabret. If you ask him what his favorite football memory is he would tell you it was when he scored his first touchdown.

 

Nathan Blackburn, the left tackle for the 3rd-grade team is a lover of ice cream, animals and math. He loves football and in fact, his favorite memory of playing the game was when he attended the BYFC Mini Camp this past summer. His favorite football player, Von Miller, plays for Nathan’s favorite team, the Denver Broncos. Off the field, he loves to play with his friends or go to his favorite restaurant, Wishbone. He enjoys video games, such as Minecraft and Fortnite, just like many of his peers. He loves to read non-fiction books or any book that’s full of facts!

Andrew Monge is a wide receiver for the 4th-grade team. A stand-out memory for Andrew is when he played flag and scored a touchdown after making a one-handed catch! Football isn’t the only sport he likes doing. He also enjoys playing basketball with his best friend and cousin. When he’s running around town with his family, he loves to eat at The Hamburger Stand in Thornton. When we asked him for an interesting fact he told us that he loves to dance and listen to music. Any chance he gets, he is either listening to his favorite music or dancing to it!

The 5th-grade fullback and middle linebacker, Aerik Ross, is a gifted and talented student with a great imagination. His favorite subject to study is science and he loves to learn about space. His favorite football team is the Denver Broncos, and like most fans, his favorite player is Von Miller. He loves to eat at Olive Garden and when he’s at home relaxing, you can find him watching The Thundermans on TV or Jumanji, the movie. His favorite memory on the gridiron was when he played on the 3rd-grade team and mercy-ruled their opponent during their last game of the season.

Timothy “Bulldozer” Wiegel is a 6th-grade lineman who rides motocross and likes reading Flat Stanley. When he is chilling out at home, he likes to watch Street Outlaws or the movie Dumb and Dumber. On Sundays, you can find him watching Von Miller sack QBs for the Denver Broncos and taking notes for his own position on the field. Timothy is an athlete on and off the field who likes PE class and outrunning his former teammates.

Travis “T-Bone” Pendleton is the 3rd-grade center who loves his position because it allows him to be involved in every offensive play. The love of football runs deep in Travis’ life and he loves playing the game with his family. His favorite football team is the Denver Broncos and his favorite player is quarterback Case Keenum. So far this season, his favorite thing to do at practice is Oklahoma drills. Away from the field, you can find him playing his favorite video game, Fortnite, or watching Dude Perfect on TV. When he needs some quiet time, he loves to read his favorite book, The Diary of a Wimpy Kid and enjoys learning science at school.

 

Jayden Rocha, aka JayJay, is a 4th-grade running back this year who loves to eat out at Red Robin. He likes to play video games with his favorite being Watch Dogs 2. During school, he really likes social studies and reading any of the “I Survived” books. After school, he really looks forward to watching The Loud House on TV or watching his favorite player, Emmanuel Sanders, play for the Denver Broncos. His favorite football memory? It was last year when he was a wide receiver. This year he enjoys being a running back because he loves to run the ball.

Edward “Eddie” Ryley is the quarterback and safety on the 5th-grade team this year. He likes his positions because he can see all the players on the field and can see what’s going on. His skills mirror those of his favorite football player, quarterback Marcus Mariota of the Tennessee Titans. He loves to run on and off the field which sets him apart from his peers. At school, Eddie likes to learn math which is fitting because his favorite video game is Geometry Dash. His favorite book is Pendragon: The Merchant of Death but he also likes to watch the TV show, The Carbonaro Effect.

 

 

Damion Strong, or Junior as he’s also known by, is this year’s left tackle for the 6th-grade team. Off the field, Junior likes to play different types of games, including his favorite video game, Fortnite. When it’s time for dinner, you can find him enjoying food from his favorite restaurant, Santiago’s. He enjoys learning about science, reading One and Only Ivan, and watching Lab Rats on TV. When he’s not playing football, he is probably watching it, especially the Denver Broncos and his favorite player, Von Miller. When asked why he likes playing his position, left tackle, he told us that it’s easy for him to get to the quarterback and sack him.

 

 

Jesse and Jacob Granados, brothers playing together on the 2nd/3rd-grade team, may have their own personalities but they do have a couple of things in common. They both love to eat at Benihana’s and they both enjoy swimming and playing basketball and baseball. Jesse’s favorite subject in school is math while his brother, Jacob, enjoys learning writing and spelling. They are both avid readers also. Jesse, a fullback who loves to run the ball, can be found reading his favorite book, My Side of the Mountain. Jacob, a cornerback for the team, likes to read the popular series Goosebumps. Their favorite football players come from rival teams also. Jesse’s favorite player is Rob “Gronk” Gronkowski, of the New England Patriots and his brother’s favorite player is Emmanuel Sanders, of the Denver Broncos. They both like to watch their favorite movie when they get a chance – Avengers: Infinity War is Jesse’s and Deadpool is Jacob’s.

He can be found chowing down on some tacos from his favorite restaurant, Tacos Rapidos. In school, he likes writing and his favorite book? Dog Man and Cat Kid. When he’s not playing video games, he likes to watch Avengers: Infinity War or his favorite TV show, The Thundermans. His favorite football player is Von Miller of the Denver Broncos. We asked him what his favorite football memory has been so far and his answer was every tackle he has made. His coach has been heard saying that Izaiah is a great player and always ready to work out a play.

Guillermo “Memo” Jaquez, the 5th-grade tackle team’s wide receiver, really enjoys the position because you have to fast, careful and always ready for your surroundings. His favorite football team is the Denver Broncos but his favorite football player isn’t on that roster. He likes to watch Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants. He lives and breathes football! His favorite memory on the field was when he made his first touchdown and even when he’s away from the field, you can find him playing football at home. At school, he loves being in the STEM Lab or reading his favorite book, Big Nate. He loves eating out at IHOP and watching the movie Peter Rabbit. If he plays a video game, his first choice is Battle Field I. Besides being a great teammate, he is a good student and son.

Abraham Lujan, one the 6th-grade lineman, remembers his first tackle during a game. He told us that was his favorite memory, which is fitting because he loves to tackle and block. He must have learned how from watching his favorite Denver Bronco, Von Miller. When Abraham is away from the field, he is either playing basketball or studying math, which is his preferred subject to learn in school. An interesting fact about Abraham is that he loves to travel and will grab his first choice book, A Night Divided by Jennifer Neilsen. He likes to enjoy a juicy steak at his favorite steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse. If he’s watching TV, he will more than likely tune it to Flash, the TV show, or Skyscraper, which is his favorite movie right now.

 

Luke Lopez, running back for the 4th-grade team, is more than a football player. He also loves to play soccer and ride his 4-wheeler. He is an excellent student who likes to read his favorite Goosebumps books and is interested in learning about history. We asked Luke some questions about football and he told us his favorite team is the Denver Broncos and his favorite player is the great Peyton Manning. He also let us know that he likes being a running back because he can get the ball and score a touchdown, which is his favorite football memory. When he’s not on the football field he is either playing Fortnight or watch Batman. He always has a smile and a great attitude on and off the football field.

Gage “Hoff” Hofferber is a 6th-grade tight end and outside tackle. Away from the football field, you can find him reading his favorite book, I Survived: Joplin Tornado or watching his favorite TV show, Diesel Brothers. He is also an avid fisherman with countless fish caught with his favorite lure. When he’s on offense, he likes being a receiver and when he’s on defense, he really likes sacking QBs. He likes watching his favorite football player, Von Miller, play for his favorite football team, the Denver Broncos. He may be the smallest kid on his team, who can put away 3 plates of his favorite food from HuHot, but he thinks he’s the hardest hitter. His coaches can always count on Gage to execute a route and stay positive in all situations.

David “Davey Baby” Hietala is the defensive tackle for the 2nd/3rd-grade tackle team this year. Even though he lives in Colorado, he loves the Indianapolis Colts and his favorite player, Andrew Luck. Among many football memories that David has, his favorite is when he scored his first touchdown while playing flag football for the BYFC. Off the field, you can find David engulfed in his favorite book, Harry Potter. If he’s not reading he is watching his favorite movie, Wonder, or his favorite TV show, Big Brother. His favorite restaurant is Hooters. That’s not the most interesting thing about David! He also likes to collect rocks and minerals. His coaches can count on David always being ready to go come rain, sleet, snow or hail.

Kelton “Keltie Boy” Bange, a tackle for the 5th-grade team, is not afraid to be his own person and doesn’t worry about doing his own thing. For example, his favorite books are written by Tom Clancy and his favorite TV show? Rick and Morty. He is a true Seattle Seahawks fan and loves to watch his favorite player, Russel Wilson. He likes his tackle position so he can bust through people and remembers being excited to start tackling his first year of playing football. When it’s dinner time, he prefers Hu Hot, a Mongolian grill that he shares with a fellow spotlight player. Kelton’s coach tells everyone that he always has a positive attitude and knows how to lighten the mood when it gets a little heavy.
